Event viewer application log not updating
Event Viewer has three tabs: Application, System and Security.
Of course, they don't work very well when they aren't enabled.
I went into the Application Pool settings in IIS 7.0 and set - Recycling, Generate Recycle Event Log Entry - Manual Reset = True. Then I ran the following which ran successfully: - appcmd recycle apppool /apppool.name: "Blah Blah" I then checked the logs and nothing was reported. This happened because the app pool worker process had previously shut down down due to the idle connection time out.
I recycled the Blah Blah Application Pool manually. I could see an event for the idle connection timeout.
I would manually recycle the pool, but nothing would show up in the Windows Event log (Event Viewer Web Server). I then tried with a different app pool, and the manual restart showed up in the Event logs.
I created a test application pool, and enabled the logging for manual recycling.
